Core Values

THE GOSPEL

At Refuge, the gospel of Jesus Christ is the center of everything we do. The good news that Jesus lived, died, and rose again is not simply information, it’s the power of God to save and transform lives. Wether it is our first conversation to every message we preach, we remain committed to proclaiming Christ clearly and faithfully. We believe salvation is found in Jesus alone and that the righteousness of God is revealed through faith.

"For I am not ashamed of the gospel of Christ, for it is the power of God to salvation for everyone who believes, for the Jew first and also for the Greek. For in it the righteousness of God is revealed from faith to faith; as it is written, “The just shall live by faith.” Romans 1:16-17

THE BIBLE

We believe the Bible is the inspired and authoritative Word of God. Scripture shapes how we understand truth, how we live, and how we lead. Because it is God-breathed, the Bible does more than inform us, it transforms us. Through teaching, study, and application, we seek to help every person grow in understanding and live out the truth of God’s Word in everyday life.

“All Scripture is given by inspiration of God, and is profitable for doctrine, for reproof, for correction, for instruction in righteousness, that the man of God may be complete, thoroughly equipped for every good work.” 2 Timothy 3:16-17

COMMUNITY

Faith was never meant to be lived in isolation. God designed the church to be a community where believers encourage one another, walk through life together, and grow in love and good works. At Refuge, we intentionally create spaces where people can connect, support one another, and build authentic relationships centered on Jesus.

“And let us consider one another in order to stir up love and good works, not forsaking the assembling of ourselves together, as is the manner of some, but exhorting one another, and so much the more as you see the Day approaching.” Hebrews 10:24-25

DISCIPLESHIP

Discipleship is not a program, it’s a journey of helping people grow in their relationship with Jesus. At Refuge, we believe discipleship happens best through intentional relationships. We walk alongside one another through life’s challenges and victories, helping each other follow Jesus more faithfully. As we carry each other’s burdens, we reflect the heart of Jesus and fulfill His command to love one another.

"Bear one another’s burdens, and so fulfill the law of Christ.” Galatians 6:2

OUTREACH

Our faith is meant to be visible in how we treat others. Refuge desires to be a blessing to Angels Camp and the surrounding foothill communities. Outreach means living out the love of Jesus in practical ways, serving neighbors, meeting needs, and sharing the hope of the gospel. Loving our neighbors means demonstrating the compassion of Jesus in both word and action.

"Let your light so shine before men, that they may see your good works and glorify your Father in heaven.” Matthew 5:16

PRAYER

Prayer is foundational to everything we do. It is how we depend on God, seek His wisdom, and experience His power. At Refuge, we believe prayer brings healing, unity, and transformation. Whether in personal devotion, small groups, or corporate gatherings, we pursue a culture where prayer is central to our lives and our ministry.

"Confess your trespasses to one another, and pray for one another, that you may be healed. The effective, fervent prayer of a righteous man avails much.” James 3:16

WORSHIP

Worship is more than music, it is a lifestyle that honors Jesus. When we gather, we lift our voices in praise, learn from God’s Word, and encourage one another in faith. Worship shapes our hearts and reminds us who God is and what He has done. At Refuge, we desire that every part of our lives, our words, actions, and attitudes reflect gratitude and devotion to the Lord.

"Let the word of Christ dwell in you richly in all wisdom, teaching and admonishing one another in psalms and hymns and spiritual songs, singing with grace in your hearts to the Lord.” Colossians 3:16
